Outdoor
We promote using the outdoor environment at every opportunity. During the wetter months, please ensure your child has the appropriate clothing for outdoor activities e.g. wellington boots and a waterproof coat. During the warmer months, please ensure that your child has a sunhat and that suncream has been applied before school. If children are scheduled to undertake outdoor learning you will be notified via a text message.
Home Learning
At the beginning of the year a ‘Login sheet’ will be laminated and place inside your child’s home learning folder. This sheet contains log in details for. Hwb, Purplemash and Bug Club. Each week your child will receive a piece of Home Learning that will link to either, Literacy, Maths or our Project for that term. Children are to record their home learning activities in their home learning book unless we set a task on Purplemash, in this case the Home Learning can be submitted online.
You will also receive a Reading book or sounds and Flashcards to practice at home. When children complete a home learning activity in their home learning book it will need to be returned to school on Wednesday to ensure it can be marked and updated with a new task for the following week.
PE Days
Our PE day is Tuesday.
Please ensure your child comes into school on P.E. day wearing their PE kit:
- PE Kit Indoor: Navy Shorts / White Round-Neck T-shirt.
- PE Kit Outdoor: Navy Hooded Sweatshirt / Navy Jogging Bottoms / Trainers.
Please note earrings are not to be worn during PE and must be removed.
Healthy Living
We aim to promote healthy living throughout the school.
Children are encouraged to bring fruit / vegetables to school for their morning break.
Please also encourage your child to bring a named water bottle to school every day so they can have access to water readily.
Please note as a healthy school we are not allowed to give out birthday cake / sweets.
Curriculum
As part of the new curriculum for Wales we have designed and developed our own bespoke curriculum. Our curriculum has taken into consideration the following four core purposes:
- Ambitious, capable learners, ready to learn throughout their lives.
- Enterprising, creative contributors, ready to play a full part in life and work.
- Ethical, informed citizens of Wales and the world.
- Healthy, confident individuals, ready to lead fulfilling lives as valued members of society.
Learning will take place inside and outside the classroom with pupil voice at the centre of learning.
