Everyone achieving; learning in harmony
Pawb yn cyflawni; dysgu mewn heddwch
At Gaer Primary School, we believe that an active school council is an important asset to our school. We actively encourage children to become involved in decisions about the school and anything that could affect their learning.
Each year a new representative is chosen. One representative from years 2 – 4, one representative from our LRB and two representatives from years 5 and 6 are elected to represent the wishes and opinions of their fellow learners.
The elected members then vote for a Chair Person, Vice-Chair and Secretary.
The School Council meet every Tuesday after school, to discuss children’s views on school matters such as the new behaviour system, fundraising events and competitions. Representatives then feedback to their class and share any ideas.
This year our school council have voted and we re delighted to announce that our ‘Charity of the year’ will be St Davids Hospice Care.
We have thought very carefully about our role in school and have created this mission statement that describes why we have a school council at Gaer Primary School:
•We are here to listen to everyone and get their opinions and ideas.
•We are here as role models for the children in our school.
•We are here to help solve problems.
•We are here to help the children feel safe and comfortable in school.
•We are here to try and support our whole school community and the people all around the world.
If our learners have issues or ideas that they would like raised, please remind them to discuss with their class representative.
